What is the difference between ribbon that is wound in and ribbon that is wound out?
The best way for you to determine which way your ribbon is wound is to test it. Stick a label to the outside of your ribbon. If you see ink on the label when it is removed, your ribbon is wound out. If you do not see ink, stick the label to the inside of your ribbon. If you see ink, your ribbon is wound in. One of the two sides will leave ink on the label. If you do not have ribbon, please call Labeltronix Customer Service Department and we'll be happy to send you a sample roll of "wound in" and "wound out" ribbon for testing in your printer.
Which ribbon do I use with my label?
There are various label materials. Each label material has been carefully spec'd with the ribbons that perform best. Some label materials can use all three formulas of ribbon, while others are designated to only one. Depending on environmental and operational conditions these specs can vary greatly. The only accurate way to decide which ribbon will work best with your label is to test or call Labeltronix for suggestions from our Labeling Consultants who will provide you with samples, guidelines, and common label/ribbon combinations.
